Hello CHS Bruin Basketball players.
I teach APUSH, AP World History, and EL History at Cascade. I have been a teacher at Cascade since 1996.
My goal as your coach is to help each individual player improve their basketball skills which will help the team improve also.My goal is also to make sure our team represents Cascade High School well. We will treat referees and other teams/coaches with respect. We will also treat our own teammates with respect. Everyone in this program has value. Whether you are a leading scorer or a player who doesn’t get a lot of playing time, you are equally valued by me. Whatever we accomplish, we will do it together. We will always work to become better basketball players and better people. I want to coach players who are well-rounded people. People who work hard in school, play more than one sport, have other interests beyond academics and athletics, and understand the stock market. (That last one is just so I can ask you for advice and then retire early). When it is time for basketball practice and games though, I want to coach players who are 100% committed to being their best and focused on basketball. I promise you will get that from me.
Finally, my goal is to have fun. I want the people that are a part of this basketball program to work hard to improve and I want us to have fun while doing it. Winning is more fun than losing but it is not the only thing that matters when deciding something is fun or not. If we win a lot, great. I’m going to do everything I can to help us get there. That will be one of our goals. But if we don’t, we will focus on smaller victories. Did we give our best effort? Did we show improvement? There are many reasons to feel good about a performance and we will celebrate those positives. We will also look closely at our “failures” and look to immediately improve in those areas. Most importantly, we will value the opportunity to compete.
I’m excited to be your coach.Anyone interested in being a part of the CHS Girls' Basketball team next year is welcome to email me at droberts@everettsd.org for information about what we are doing to stay connected.
