Greetings! My name is Laura Beckett and I'm excited to be back at Madison Elementary for another fantastic school year teaching as the Title 1 math specialist. I am also familiar with Madison from a parent perspective. My son attended school here and graduated from Everett High School in 2013. As a parent I was fortunate to experience what a great school Madison is with a dedicated and highly capable staff. I volunteered at Madison and spent time helping in the Computer Lab working with students of all ages in the classroom and after school. I've enjoyed seeing familiar faces and smiles in our hallways. Working in the community in which I live has been a long time career goal.
I grew up in the Midwest and graduated from Iowa State University but have lived in Everett with my husband since 1990. I spent the majority of my adult life working in the newspaper industry both in Seattle and Everett. Prior to becoming a teacher my career involved the support and management of technology and information systems. Yet it was while at Madison volunteering that I was inspired to follow my lifelong dream of being a teacher. So I am especially thrilled to have this opportunity after completing the UW-Bothell Teacher Certification Program. I also like the fact that at Madison I still get to be a Husky.
I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with all grade levels of students and am looking forward to a year full of learning, growth, and development.
