Welcome to another fantastic year!
My name is Elizabeth Booth and I am so pleased to be working with you and your child this year!
I grew up here in the Pacific Northwest, but just recently moved to Marysville with my husband, Brian, and our beautiful 2 year old daughter, Madelyn. During our down time we enjoy spending time outdoors: hiking, kayaking, curling up with a good book, and working out in the yard.
This will be my second year of teaching fifth grade here at Hawthorne Elementary. I graduated from Heritage University in 2015 with a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education and am eager to pursue my Masters in Education, in the next few years, with a focus in literacy. I've always had a passion for children's literature and try to embed stories within all of my lessons. I believe that children learn best when they take ownership of their learning and are permitted to make mistakes and try, try again. As such, I strive to create a well-structured, safe learning environment, where perseverence and mistakes are celebrated and not frowned upon. Were you to step into our classroom, you would see students utilizing technology and collaborating with their peers while engaging with hands-on activities.
Your child's fifth grade year will fly by in the blink of an eye, trust me! To better prepare students for middle school and beyond, classroom expectations are set high and students take on a great deal of responsibility throughout the school year. Not only with regard to keeping organized and producing quality assignments, but also by helping with classroom duties and mentoring younger students throughout the school year.
I know that your child's education is important to you. Please know that you are always welcome to volunteer or simply observe the goings-on in our classroom. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me and I will respond as quickly as I can. Thank you! I look forward to getting to know you and your family better throughout the year.
