Welcome to another fantastic year!
I am very excited to have your student in my class this year and am looking forward to a year full of learning, growth, and development. Welcomed, valued, and respected is how I would like my students to feel on their first day. I will be looking at these first few weeks to lay a strong foundation of mutual respect, kindness, and high personal and academic expectations related to learning and growth. I am very passionate about looking at what students can do and building on their individual strengths, as well as their collective strengths within the classroom. We will have engaging lessons where students will learn to explain their thinking and connect what they learn to the real world. I am so excited to have the privilege of getting to know your children and going on this fourth grade journey with them.
A little about myself...I graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and completed my K-8 Teaching certification program. Go Huskies! After many years of nursing, I decided I needed to pursue the public education field because I felt so strongly that education is empowering and it begins with elementary education. I, myself, have four children, ranging from age 6 to age 18. We currently live in Edmonds and love to take day trips to the beach and park. You might see us playing in the sand at the Edmonds beach, come rain or shine. I also love to read and your students might get a good idea about some of my favorite books as they browse through the classroom library.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns related to your student or general school issues. I will respond within 24 hours during the school week. Also, you can always write me a quick note and send it to school, email me, or call. I want you to feel safe and secure in the knowledge that your child will be taken care of and heard during this year. If there is anything that I should know about your child, please let me know so I can make sure that they are able to have a successful and fun year while taking into consideration their individual learning styles and abilities.
I look forward to seeing your child on September 5th for Back to School Night and on September 6th for our first day!
