Welcome to Mrs. Olswang's Class
Hi my name is Patti Olswang and I have been teaching for 87 years and yes I am as old as dirt. After graduating from Western Washington University with a BA in Special Education, I began working in Mukilteo Public Schools as a long term substitute. In October of 1979 I started my first year for the Everett Public Schools at Garfield elementary school. I have taught at Garfield, Emerson, Jefferson, Woodside and Cedar Wood.
I have three wonderful daughters: 26 year old twins and a 24 year old. Erin, Marissa and Kelsey are so close that many people thought I had triplets. Boy oh boy it sure felt like it too. Marissa works for Starbucks corporate office in Seattle, Kelsey works for an Escrow company in Bellevue and Erin is working at In-Spa and a latte stand in Seattle.
I have been married for 32 years to a very patient man. Bruce works for a building materials company in Woodinville. He loves computers, his daughters, sound systems and koi.
There are many things that I am passionate about. One is teaching kindergarten students and working with parents. This is a collaborative process and I do enjoy counseling and teaching parents. I like to travel, play and laugh at our cats, bake, sing anytime (which does embarrass our youngest), walk with friends, embroider, watch movies that make me laugh and watch Husky, Seahawk, Sounders, Silvertips games and art.
I look forward to working with our fabulous team of kindergarten teachers and a new crop of students this year at Cedar Wood.
