ELAWhen instructing reading we use a balanced literacy approach. This means we use a variety of scaffolding to teach reading.
- Modeled reading (includes read alouds)
- Shared reading (reading together)
- Guided reading (small group instruction to meet more individualized needs)
- Independent reading (where the child practices his/her skills with an appropriately leveled book)
I am thrilled to be teaching our new Literacy curriculum this year!PLEASE make sure to encourage your student to read every night for at least 30 minutes. This teaches them to build reading stamina, develops their skills in reading and writing. Studies show that students who read every night tend to perform and achieve higher in school!September:Introduction to the new curriculum!
