SBA Cut Scores
The cut (or threshold) scores for Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4, within the scale score range, were initially developed by the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium, with input from thousands of educators and community members. The Smarter Balanced member states approved these scores. The scores and achievement level descriptors were then adopted by the State Board of Education (SBE) in January 2015.High school cut scores listed below represent college and career readiness levels. The cut scores to meet the state assessment graduation requirement were set by the SBE at 2548 for English Language Arts (ELA) and 2595 for math for the classes of 2016 through 2019.
