Welcome to the Henry M. Jackson High School Dance Team Webpage!
The Jackson Dance Team is a competitive, year-long sport that competes in Hip Hop and Dance. We focus on teaching the kid, not just the athlete. Through the discipline of Dance and exercise, we teach valuable lessons to prepare our athletes for life after high school. Our goal is to encourage and prepare our students for whatever life throws at them. We problem solve, test limits, support each other, hold each other accountable, laugh at ourselves, and even fail. We believe that failing is the fundamental element of growing - without failure, there is no growth, and we provide a safe environment to be able to do this. Dance Team is a place for students to explore their individuality, while learning work ethic, independence, discipline, teamwork, and grit.
(Coaches Kevin Chhoom & Aireal Hart)
Kevin was a volunteer coach for the 2017-2018 season, and is now on our staff as a Co-coach. He danced on the Shorecrest High School Hip Hop Team for three years, and is an Assistant Coach for their JV Hip Hop Team. Kevin's patience, positivity, and humor are what make him a great addition to our family. Kevin has been studying Hip Hop and breakdancing for over six years. His natural ability to pick up and retain everything he learns is what makes him an awesome choreographer!
Aireal has been coaching the JHS Dance Team for six years. She studied dance for 10+ years at Turning Pointe Dance Centre, Westlake Dance Center, and competed with the Jackson Dance Team from 2004-2008. Her coaching philosophy focuses on using discipline through dance to prepare students for life after high school. Aireal studied in Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Ballet, and Hip Hop. Her Administrative and Event Planning background are what keep the team structured and organized.
