All 5th grade students in our district are expected to participate in physical fitness skills testing that is recorded and available for comparison in future grades within the district. Also, their report card includes a field for "understanding content" and these grades are from written quizzes from basic content units, with a year-end comprehensive test. The units are: The Five Components of Fitness (Fall) and then "Food for Health and Energy" (Spring).
After completing fall fitness tests, each student will set personal goals. Fitness testing is not graded. Since P.E.. is only once a week, it will be important to be active at home and practice fitness and activity skills at home.
