2002 Capital Bond Projects

    The 2002 bond provided $74 million for projects to relieve overcrowding and enhance learning environments in Everett Public Schools. These projects included new classroom additions at Jackson High School, Gateway Middle School, and Penny Creek Elementary School, Eisenhower Middle School and Emerson Elementary School modernizations, roof replacements, mechanical system upgrades, flooring replacements, lighting system upgrades, Everett High School parking lot expansion, security and fire alarm system upgrades, property purchases, and technology upgrades.

    The district was able to utilize interest earnings on the bond funds and state construction assistance funds to expand the scope of many of the original bond projects and add new projects to meet additional immediate needs.
     
     

    Central bus facility property purchase

    Purchased 5.25 acre property in the 1300 block of 80th Street SW in Everett for a new central bus facility. School construction assistance program (SCAP) funds in the amount of $120,810 helped to fund this project.

    Emerson Elementary School modernization

    Emerson received a full modernization and/or replacement of all building systems including heating, ventilation, electrical, plumbing, roofing and finishes. The structure was strengthened to better withstand earthquakes. This project focused on the needs of today's society and the future, including flexible spaces, community use and technology.

Mitigation/impact fees in the amount of $997,445 were used to complete this project.

The original bond measure proposed the addition of six classrooms, however the district was able to utilize $247,491 in mitigation/impact fees to construct an additional classroom.
