Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! My name is Miss Scott and I am thrilled to teach 3rd grade at Penny Creek again this year!
From Kindergarten through 12th grade I was an Everett Public Schools student. I graduated from Jackson High School, but the majority of my last two years in high school were spent in the Running Start program at Cascadia Community College in Bothell. I graduated with my Associate Degree in Elementary Education the day before I graduated high school! After graduation, I moved to Bellingham where I attended Western Washington University. During that time, I spent one summer in Queretaro, Mexico learning Spanish and teaching English. Several months later I started my student teaching in a 3rd grade classroom in Mount Vernon, Washington. After a year of student teaching I graduated from Western with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education with a Language, Literacy, and Cultural Studies focus and a minor in English Language Learners. Immediately after graduating from Western, I moved back to Everett and have been teaching 3rd grade since!
When I am not teaching, I enjoy many hobbies! When the weather is warm you can find me outside reading a good book. During the colder months you will find me curled up with a blanket reading! Cooking and finding new recipes is also a passion of mine. I am always eager to find new recipes! With that being said, I love food! Some of my favorite foods include french fries, ice cream, fruit, and doughnuts.
As a teacher my first priority is to create a positive, trusting relationship with my students and their families. Before a child is able to learn s/he needs to feel loved at school. I also recognize that families are a child’s first teacher. You have tremendous knowledge about your child, and it is my goal to learn from you! Throughout the year I will be partnering with families in order to create a strong connection between home and school. I am excited to start this journey with you and your child!
