Listening at Home
Tips to help your child learn during this time of home learning
- Make sure equipment is working
- Clean earmolds daily
- Change batteries when dead
Do a listening check
- Wear devices at all times
- Eyes open, ears on
Focus on improving wear time, if not already a full-time user
- Listening Environments
- Minimize distractions, when possible
- Have your child listen in a quiet setting, for example, in their bedroom or a quiet room away from others
- Good lighting in the room
If possible, rugs help dampen background noises
- Listening through the computer
- If possible, use headphones with hearing aids, the over the ear headphones usually work best and position them over the hearing aid microphone
- If possible, use an FM or DM transmitter with auxiliary cord
- If possible, use bluetooth through hearing aid or remote device such as a ComPilot or EduMic
