Superintendent's Message, August 12, 2020
While the majority of voters supported our school capital bond, we are disappointed that we did not reach the 60 percent needed for approval. We have 58.8%, majority approval, but in Washington, unlike so many other states, we require a super-majority to pass a bond. We understand the current climate may have made it difficult for some to support local school funding right now.
Now, without the bond funding, we will work with our staff, parents and community to determine next steps.
We want to thank our staff for their dedication to our students, and for all the work that went into this bond. And thank you to the Citizens for Everett Public Schools for their volunteer efforts. Despite this setback, we will remain focused on our students and our goal of academic success and preparing every student for college, career and community participation.
Dr. Ian B. Saltzman, Superintendent
