  • Dear friends,

For the past several months our community has been engaged in various conversations regarding the civil unrest that has impacted so much of our country. I want to ensure our families and students that no matter what you are feeling right now, as a district we believe in every student and support their right to share their voice and feelings.

As the guilty verdict in the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in the death of George Floyd came down today, there were many perspectives and emotions from students and from staff. There is a lot to process.

Our teachers and school counselors are available for any student who needs to talk or wants assistance to process not just the verdict in the Chauvin case, but any other issues weighing on their minds. Our focus as a district is the social and emotional health and education of our students, and we are here for them.

Please visit our student support webpage for more resources on social-emotional learning and supports.

    Thank you and be well,

    Dr. Ian B. Saltzman, Superintendent
