Career & Technical Education

The CTE programs and pathways help our students:

• Identify a career goal.
• Explore careers in middle and high school.
• Take classes in high schools, at skills centers, and at community and technical colleges that apply math, science, and other academic subjects in real-life, hands-on ways.
• Pursue rigorous Programs of Study and earn industry certifications, and two- and four-year college options.
• Earn tuition-free college credits as well as high school credits required for graduation.
• Become leaders by participating in skills competitions and community service.
• Earn credit for jobs they may already be working after school. 
• Meet and work with real companies through summer internship, mentorship, and job exploration opportunities.

• All students must meet one math and one English Language Arts (ELA) pathway, as defined in their High School and Beyond plan.
• Completing a qualifying sequence of CTE courses meets those requirements.
• Students must earn 2.0 credits in the same pathway to complete a sequence to meet CTE graduation pathway requirements.

Depending on the pathway your student is working in, there are student organizations corresponding to each that help students practice leadership, explore career possibilities, and engage in regional, local and national competitions, while discovering their passions for learning and careers.

By law, each pathway has a corresponding Program Advisory Committee that is made up of both teachers and industry members, who work collaboratively to ensure we are providing the most up-to-date skills and certifications to our students. We are always looking for more local industry members to join these groups to help support our programs!
