Participation

• Current students in grades 8-9 may participate and can earn 0.5 CTE Credit
   

Structure

• Virtual w/ synchronous zooms 3-4 times per week - July 6-24
   

Description

• Students will work with fellow  8th and 9th grade peers to meet virtually with a variety of Industry Professionals and to learn about career paths into a variety of industries. 
• Provides students a look at career opportunities in career clusters that are aligned with their abilities, interests and personalities to formulate academic and career goals, while creating a plan for achievement of those goals through high school course and beyond planning.
• The 3-week summer course is focused on supporting in-coming freshman and current freshman with an intentional effort to recruit students who can benefit from additional guidance prior to entering high school.
• Special Education, EL, low income, and AVID students will especially benefit from this course.

Description

• Students will work in a small group of fellow 10th and 11th grade students to interview industry professionals and to answer an industry-specific problem. 
• Provides students a look at career opportunities in career clusters that are aligned with their abilities, interests and personalities to formulate academic and career goals, while creating a plan for achievement of those goals through high school course and beyond planning. 
• Groups will work closely with a mentor to discuss solutions and ideas while applying problem-solving, collaboration, project management, human relations, presentation skills, and networking skills.

Participation

• Current 10th and 11th Grade students (if 16 or older by June 15) may participate and earn 0.5 CTE Credit
   

Structure 

• 90-hour in person job internship (days/times may vary)  5-6 weeks in the summer

Description

• Students aged 16 and older will gain hands-on experience working in an industry they're excited, learning directly from the pros.

• While unpaid, students will receive .5 CTE/Elective credit for this summer opportunity.
• The program gives students a chance to “learn before they earn” by showing what it is like to work in a specific job or work environment while earning credit. 
• The internship program is targeted towards current sophomores and juniors from all four high schools.  

• In addition to the internship, students benefit from: 

  • Networking building skills

  • Resume support

  • Interview practice

Timeline:

• Jan 1–March 31: Students apply for Everett Career Link Internship
• April: Students will meet with Mrs. Youngberg to view available internships and select top choices
• May: Internship offer letters sent to students and business introductions are scheduled
• June: Internship details determined with business (schedule, job duties, etc.)
• July–August: Hands-on internships take place (dates and time are determined between business and student)
