NCAA

The National Collegiate Athletic Association  is the organization that governs college athletics in the United States. It sets rules for student-athletes and organizes athletic programs for more than 1,000 colleges and universities.

Many student-athletes hope to play in college, but athletic skill alone isn't enough — strong academics are essential. If you're aiming to compete at the college level, meet with your school counselor early to create an academic plan that meets NAIA or NCAA eligibility requirements. Don’t wait until junior or senior year.

Important: If you attend an online high school, ensure your courses meet NCAA standards — Everett Public Schools is not responsible for certifying outside coursework.

Visit the NAIA and NCAA Eligibility Centers and review the NCAA Recruiting Calendar to understand rules and requirements.

Registration

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Eligibility Center is responsible for determining the eligibility of first-time NAIA student-athletes and will begin taking registrations on September 1, 2010 for any student interested in playing NAIA sports for the first time in 2011-12 or after. To be recruited by NCAA Division I and II institutions, student-athletes must be registered and academically eligible through the clearinghouse.

Students may register at any time, but we recommend that they register during their sophomore year. The NCAA Eligibility Center will evaluate a student’s academic credentials once the following information has been received, and the student has had his/her status requested by an NCAA member institution:

  • Completed online registration
  • Fee payment
  • SAT and/or ACT test score on file from the respective testing agency
  • Transcript(s) from all schools or programs attended
