Welcome to Mr. Till's Class

  • Steve Till Bienvenidos a mi pagina web.  Espero poder actualizarla pronto y a menudo.
Welcome to my website.  I hope to be able to update it soon and often.
Para ver lo que hicimos hoy en clase, puedes encontrar los planes en mi calendario.
To see what we did today in class, you can find the plans on my calendar.
After teaching high school Spanish for several years using a lot of grammar and text books, I was ready for a new change.  The majority of my students were not retaining the Spanish I was teaching.  I was introduced to TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling) as well as CI (Comprehensible Input) back October of 2011.  It has been the main teaching methodology I use since January of 2012.  It has been beyond amazing for me to witness all of my students acquire so much more Spanish through the repetition of high frequency structures in a compelling way.
I took two years of high school Spanish.  I acquired a great deal of Spanish serving a mission for my church in Spain for two years.  I then studied Spanish Translation/Interpretation and Spanish Teaching and graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.  I later finished my Master's Degree in Spanish from California State University at Sacramento through their traveling summer program.  I have traveled and studied in several Spanish speaking countries:  Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Chile, Peru and Argentina.  My wife (who is also fluent in Spanish) and I only speak Spanish to our children.
I currently coach track at JHS and 8th grade basketball at Gateway Middle School.  My other interests include spending time with my family and juggling.
I really hope to continue to help as many students as possible acquire more Spanish while I continue to as well.
