Greetings during these interesting times!
Week 3 of working out of my children's bedroom. Sam and Michael share a house in Seattle so their room is available. Last week my cat Ernie kept me company, but I am no longer a novelty, so she has found better spaces with more sun.
You can find a photo of Ernie by clicking on My Family Photos. I went on a bike ride Sunday to Mukilteo and uploaded a photo from the deck of Mukilteo Coffee.
I continue to check email: firstname.lastname@example.org
I appreciate all of you for letting me know how you are doing and what you are working on.
I am using Canvas as my platform for pushing out assignments. Currently there are are activities supporting Similarity in the Modified Geometry B Canvas class, and activities for learning about debt and credit in the Modified Algebra 2 B Canvas class.
Students please e-mail me to check in, then log onto i-Ready through the student tools tab on the district website. You should also be able to access i-Ready through the Quick Link on this page. Once you have finished the diagnostic test any math time and lessons you complete can be used to earn .25 math elective credit. You will need to complete 30 lessons, 750 minutes and a post-test, so now is the time to get started.
I am starting Zoom sessions this week. Mondays at 1pm will be a drop-in time for any student, Tuesdays at 10am will be a session for Modified Algebra 2 students, and Thursdays at 10am will be a session for Modified Geometry students. Look for an email with a Zoom invitation. If you click on the link you should find yourself in a Zoom session. I have developed class e-mail lists, and will be sending out class-wide information, so read your e-mails.
A little bit about me:
I am one of the Resource Room Math Teachers at Sequoia High School and teach classes for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in math. During the 201/2020 academic year I have been teaching Modified Geometry and Modified Algebra 2. Modified Geometry is designed for students who have been successful with Modified Algebra, and Modified Algebra 2 is a senior level math class for students who have completed Modified Algebra and Modified Geometry.
In addition, I provide individualized instruction of IEP math goals, and report progress four times per year.
I have a bachelors degree in Physiology from U.C. Berkeley, a doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University, a teaching certificate from Western Washington University, and a special education endorsement from City University. As you might be able to tell, I love learning.
Hoping to hear from you soon!
