Welcome

  • UPDATE: DISTRICT CLOSURE INFORMATION March 16 - April 24, 2020

    Hello families!

Thank you for your flexibility and understanding during this unprecedented time. I wanted to provide you with a few updates for our class and keep you in the loop about different resources and learning opportunities being provided for your student while we are away from our school buildings.

I will be communicating with families weekly in regards to class and resources students could use to stay active with their learning. In addition, I will post updates for daily schedules and learning opportunities in Remote Learning: Daily Schedule under Quicklinks. Please click on the link to view the slides.

Our team will be working to provide a variety of resources as we move forward with the school closure. I will be using Google Classroom as the means to deliver materials to your students. Students can access our Google Classroom using the link under Quicklinks and should be checking Google classroom daily! This will not replace any learning that could have been done at school, but my hope is that students can benefit from these tools by retaining skills they already have and build more independent work habits to support their growth as learners!

To log into our Google Classroom, students must first sign in on the Silver Lake Elementary webpage. If you are having trouble, trying signing out of Google and signing your student in using studentID@apps.everettsd.org. For more help, use the link How To Use Google Classroom.

Once in Google Classroom, your student should use the Classwork tab to see daily schedules and content for learning. This will not replace any learning that could have been done at school, but my hope is that students can benefit from these tools by retaining skills they already have and build more independent work habits to support their growth as learners!

Enrichment opportunities will also be posted in Google Classroom.

I know we are dealing with difficult times right now, but my goal is to help you each step along the way. Please see Additional Resources below and reach out to me at mmckague@everettsd.org if you have any questions!

    Take care!

    Molly

Wellogo come to Portable 4! My name is Molly McKague and I’m thrilled to be joining the fifth grade team here at Silver Lake Elementary. This is my 6th year teaching, 5 of which have been spent teaching 5th grade.

A little about myself...I am from Kentucky, but have lived in Washington for a little over fifteen years. I am a graduate of Central Washington University where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a minor in Science Education. I have a wonderful husband, three amazing, spirited children, one spunky ferret and a rambunctious puppy. In my free time I like being with my family cooking, camping, hiking, rafting, and basically enjoying nature. I love teaching and have a passion for science.

I’m passionate about creating a learning environment where students, will grow both academically and socially. A primary goal for me this year is to ensure that students maximize their potential to achieve to high standards. During the first month of school, we will work together to develop a cooperative learning community. As 5th graders, I expect each student to take an active role in their own learning, so we will collectively establish classroom rules and norms. We will also spend the first weeks getting to know each other through a variety of community building activities. At the same time, we will jump right into the curriculum since we have a lot to cover this year across the subject areas. I will provide students with the necessary support and resources to be successful!

I am looking forward to a great year!
