I am entering my first year as assistant principal at Cascade High School. Being a University of Washington Husky, I am struggling a little with the Crimson and Gray, but have willingly been stocking up on my crimson and gray gear to proudly represent the Cascade community. Go Bruins!!!
I have done two stints at the University of Washington, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (2003) and most recently, earning my principal certificate through UW’s Danforth Education Leadership program (2017). In between, I completed my Master of Art in Education, specialization in School Counseling from Seattle University (2006) and have been serving as a high school counselor for the past 11 years, earning my National Board of Professional Teaching Standards in School Counseling: Early Adolescence through Young Adulthood (2014). While working as a counselor, I was blessed to have been the head gymnastics coach for 9 years, a class advisory and other roles that allowed me to connect and build rapport with students!
My husband, Jon and my little human Lincoln (2) are my biggest champions and support me unconditionally in my endeavors. Jon and I met playing volleyball while I was studying abroad at the University of Bath in England and we still enjoy playing when we get the opportunity. Most importantly, it’s about spending time together as a family, watching our little human explore and learn about the world and soaking up all the precious moments!
I am so excited to learn about and hear the stories of our students, families, staff and community that make up the fabric of Cascade High School and am looking forward to the work we will be doing together to develop each student’s academic, creative, emotional, social, physical, and vocational potential by actively engaging each student in learning!Michael TakayoshiAssistant PrincipalAthletic DirectorAdvanced Placement ProgramsStudents with last names P-ZMichael has been Assistant Principal at Cascade since 2014.
