Hello and welcome!
I am excited to start my journey teaching American Sign Language (ASL) with you all. I have been signing since I was a baby, and have been involved in the culture and community for just as long. ASL and deaf culture are near and dear to my heart!
I started my career as an educational interpreter in 2014 and had many encounters of families who wanted to learn ASL to communicate with their deaf or hard of hearing child. With limited resouces for parents in my area, I began teaching families ASL and this sparked a decision to pursue my masters degree in teaching ASL at the University of Northern Colorado.
Since my graduation in 2018, I have been teaching online as well as for a local Deaf organization while continuing to interpret. I am thrilled to be able to share my experiences and knowledge with each of you and it is my goal for students to enjoy learning the language through games and authentic conversation. When students leave my class, I want them to have the confidence to attend deaf events and have conversations with members of the deaf community.
I am looking forward to a year full of learning, growth, and development. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
