Welcome T-Wolves and parents!
This is my first year at H.M. Jackson High School, and I am very privileged to join the Everett Public Schools community. I am excited for this year to begin, and to start working to establish the positive relationships and trust necessary for success. I am very excited to have your student in my class this year. Through all aspects of my life, I strongly feel that strong communication and clear expectations are important for the happiness and success for everyone. Please never hesitate to reach out, and let me know if you have any questions, or if there is anything that I should to better help you or your student!
A bit of an introduction to me: I've always loved math and sports. I grew up in the Redmond/Bothell area, and attended Inglemoor High School. I received my undergraduate degree in mathematics from the University of Washington. I switched things up a bit for graduate school, and got my Master's of Science degree from Western Washington University in Human Movement and Performance (Biomechanics / Exercise Physiology). During my time at WWU, I also ran a year of university cross country and track and field. I then moved to Alaska where I coached NCAA cross country and track and field at the University of Alaska Anchorage for 11 years, while also teaching upper division university courses in biomechanics and kinesiology, human movement and performance, and standards and assessment. While I loved my time in Alaska, after having kids my wife and I made the decision to move back home. I went back and got a second Master's Degree, this time in Secondary Mathematics Teaching, and here I am!
Please know that I'm super passionate about helping you all succeed, and we will embark into this year working together toward common goals!
