Welcome to Mr. Pratt's website
It is a pleasure to work with your children everyday. I enjoy introducing lifetime activities to the students here at Gateway. Even when I was an elementary teacher, we played hard as a reward for working hard. Participating in college athletics increased my opportunities to develop friendships and connected me to the campus beyond the classroom. I believe it is important to teach the body as well as the mind. Teaching fitness has been rewarding because the learning can be seen. Every day I get to witness students getting faster, stronger, or accomplishing physical tasks they didn't think they could do. My reward is the smile on their face.
Growing up, I was involved in competitive volleyball, swimming, soccer, track, tennis, and baseball. My leisure time activities included tennis, disc golf, bicycling, roller skating, roller blading, badminton, pickle ball, softball, shuffleboard, horseback riding, basketball, hiking, jujitsu, ice skating, and juggling. I am a big fan of lacrosse and rugby.
My Associate of Arts degree was acquired while attending Chabot College (currently Las Positas College). I graduated from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Science degree. Years later, I went to California State University Hayward (currently CSU East Bay) to obtain a teaching credential. I played competitive ultimate for school teams at Chabot and Cal Poly. When I wasn't playing ultimate I would be playing volleyball in USAV leagues. My passion for volleyball has continued into adulthood as a coach for club and high school.
