Discipline Appeal Council

Purpose

The Discipline Appeal Council is the venue by which parents and students may appeal disciplinary action.
The council heard one appeal in the 2021-22 school year, and no appeals in the 2024-25, 2023-24, 2022-23, 2020-21, 2019-20, 2018-19, 2017-18, 2016-17, 2015-16, 2014-15, 2013-14 or 2012-13 school years and one appeal in the 2011-12 school year under Policy 3320. 

This council meets as needed.

Members

The members include the deputy superintendent, the chief academic officer, the regional superintendents and the Title IX/Civil Rights Compliance Officer. The board president shall appoint a board member-at-large. The region one superintendent shall serve as the chair of the discipline appeal council and the region two superintendent as vice-chair.

Membership on the Discipline Appeal Council has been approved by the board annually since March 2003. The board last approved council members on June 24, 2025.
