Hello and welcome to STEAM!

  Madison Elementary, with support from the Everett School District, is in the beginning stages of a major transformation. Besides looking forward to our new building coming soon (thank you voters!), we are making some   changes to the way we do school. There are many ideas about the "best" way to get and keep students and families engaged in learning. One of those is the STEAM model that we are adopting and adapting to meet the unique needs of our local community and its students. 

Keeping a strong, focused emphasis on Math, Science and Reading, STEAM aims to make the most of integrated learning, providing hands-on opportunities and experiences that keep the subject matter and necessary standards at the forefront of project-based learning. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math, but even this doesn't cover all that can be done through STEAM!

As they develop 21st century skills of collaboration, creativity, communication, problem-solving and critical thinking, students will begin to notice how interconnected things in their world really are. This recognition and the skills of communicating their understanding of it are what drive the learners. With an increased level of responsibility for their own learning, students begin to take ownership of and expand on the content provided in the classroom.
