Dear Jackson Families,
Welcome to the 2018/2019 school year at Jackson Elementary! We are looking forward to another great year at Jackson! Some great occurrences happened this past year, including the addition of a foreign language program, and some needed updates to our playground. We would like to extend another huge thank you to our PTA, Watch D.O.G. group, and Jackson families who supported our Art Docent program, facilitated various fundraisers to raise money for field trips, and helped staff with events and clubs around our school. Your support for our students and staff help make Jackson a magical place!
Jackson has a new Assistant Principal! Jennifer Reyes will join us half time as part of our leadership team. Jennifer has been with Everett Public Schools for the past six years as a teacher at Whittier Elementary School. She has a master's in Leadership Education from the University of Washington-Bothell. Jennifer upholds Jackson's mission and values through her belief that education can be impactful on a child's life trajectory for generations. We are excited for all that Jennifer will bring to the Jackson community!
If you are new to Jackson Elementary, we embrace being a culturally rich community that is passionate about helping each student achieve academic and social emotional excellence. Our teaching staff is highly qualified, and we are continually learning and growing professionally to better serve the needs of each student and their family. We pride ourselves by ensuring, all students receive exceptional standards based instruction. Our students experience viable, motivating, and real world experiences to achieve success in the 21st Century.
We will continue providing enrichment and athletic experiences such as, our after school Soccer Club, Girls on the Run, the Running Club, Fiber Arts Club, Foreign Language for Youth, our two Lego Robotics Teams, and our PTA sponsored Lego Build Club. Our third graders will continue participating in the Make a Splash swim program sponsored by the YMCA. New this year, our 5th graders will attend overnight camp at Cedar Springs Camp in the fall!
Jackson is committed to keeping our students safe. If your child expresses any concern to you regarding our school, please let their teacher or the office know. We want to make sure we are creating a safe optimal learning environment for all students.
We are a late start school. Students should arrive at 8:50AM if they eat breakfast at school. If students are not eating breakfast or participating in before school programs, they should arrive at 9:00AM when adult supervision is provided. The final bell rings at 9:15AM and all students should be in class, ready to learn and work at that time.
As always, I welcome opportunities to chat formally or informally about ways we can best serve our students. I want to work collaboratively with you to make your child's experience at Jackson successful. Please stop by and see us anytime! You will receive ongoing communication from your child’s teacher letting you know how you can work together to ensure your child’s needs are met. We look forward to working in partnership with you to ensure the success of our children!
I am excited to continue being a part of this amazing learning community!
