Heatherwood music students make All-State lists

An impressive 24 Heatherwood Middle School band, orchestra, and choir students made the 2026 Washington Music Educators Association (WMEA) All-State lists. 
As part of the honor, choir students will perform in Yakima on Feb. 14. Band and orchestra students will play the next day on Feb. 15.

“Over a thousand students from all over the state of Washington audition for this opportunity and only about 160 students are selected,” Director of Bands Lesley Moffat said. “Jordan and Nathan work hard on a daily basis and have built their skills to a high level.”

“Annabelle, Anne, Elena, Elise, and Charity are daily musical leaders in our orchestra ensemble, and also serve on our leadership team, leading-warm ups, managing rehearsal technology and equipment, and helping to run rehearsals when we have a guest teacher,” Director of Orchestra Monica Camp said. “They can always be counted on to identify the small musical details that take our ensemble to a higher performance level, and to step in to help with rehearsal logistics wherever there is a need.”

“I am incredibly proud of our 17 students selected for the all-state honor choir. This achievement reflects their dedication, hard work, and musical excellence,” Choir Director Gintare Seiger said. “It provides an extraordinary musical experience that will enrich and elevate our choir as a whole."
