Gateway 6th grader's novel becomes #1 new release on Amazon
At 11 years old, Gateway Middle School sixth grader Rajveer Dhar released his debut novel, Dreamcatchers, a sports fiction book inspired by his love of soccer, teamwork and storytelling. The story was released in December and recently became a number one new release on Amazon in its category.
Writing under the pen name RV, Dhar began working on Dreamcatchers after realizing how powerful stories could be in motivating young people. The novel follows four young soccer players from different backgrounds who come together through the sport they love. As they train, compete, and face challenges on and off the field, the characters learn about perseverance, friendship, and believing in themselves.
Soccer plays a major role in Dhar’s life. He’s a dedicated goalkeeper and spends much of his free time practicing, watching games, and studying the sport. That passion helped shape the story’s central theme of helping the U.S. Men’s National Team compete on the world’s biggest stage at the 2026 World Cup.
While balancing schoolwork at Gateway Middle School, Dhar committed to writing regularly, receiving support from his family and teachers. Educators at Gateway supported his efforts and encouraged him to keep writing, even when the process became challenging.
Dhar hopes Dreamcatchers will connect with students his age. He wants readers to understand that success is not only about winning games, but also about teamwork, dedication, and supporting one another. The story highlights the importance of staying focused on goals while building strong friendships along the way.
Outside of writing and soccer, Dhar has several other interests. He enjoys reading, playing piano, learning about technology, and creating content for his YouTube channel, which focuses on soccer and aviation. He dreams of becoming a pilot one day.
“Rajveer's passion for soccer, whether cheering for Manchester United, attending Sounders games, or playing as a goalkeeper for his club, inspired him to dream big and turn that passion into a 300-page novel,” his dad, Rajcoomar Dhar, said. “After eight months of hard work, seeing Dreamcatchers become an Amazon number one new release is a proud moment for our family and we hope that his story inspires other kids to chase their dreams.”
Dhar is proud of what he achieved at such a young age. Dhar hopes his journey shows other students that dedication and creativity can turn big ideas into real achievements, regardless of age.
