Student Support Advocate

Hello,

My name is Claudia Childers, I am the student support advocate at Jackson High School.  I am a fluent Spanish speaker.  I am thrilled to be working at Jackson in this role.  I work hard at trying to remove as many barriers as possible to help students be successful at school and to help families access the resources and support they need. I work closely with the Jackon High school counselors to help each and every student.

Some of the things I often help students and families with include but not limited to.  If you are unsure if I can help, please feel free to contact me anyway if I am not the right person, I will find out who is.

  •  Provide a safe space and support for students to regroup if needed during the school day.
  • - Finding mental health resources in the community
  • - Working with families to see if they qualify for the KIT program.  As the Building point person at Jackson High School, I work closely with our KIT office.
  • - Assisting with applying for health insurance
  • - Signing students up for Operation School Bell (a free program that provides clothing for students who qualify for Free/Reduced Lunch)
  • - Providing students with clothing and shoes  (when available)

I am in the counseling office in room B241.  I am also available by phone or email. (Email is the best way to reach me)
