Parent E-mail for Closure:
Dear Gateway Students and Guardians,
The science department has been working together to plan engaging activities that students can work through at their own pace. We will be uploading these activities to Google Classroom on Monday of each week so students can plan when they would like to work through each activity. A reflection can be done at the end of each week and submitted so we can provide feedback to students or answer questions as necessary.
For the first week, starting March 23, the focus will be on reviewing density concepts. The activities will comprise of a combination of videos, interactive simulations, games, and followed up by a reflection. Future engagement materials will include convection, tectonic plates, volcanoes, and earthquakes. More materials will be provided if closures extend past what we have planned.
In this school district closure environment, “assignment” and “classwork” are just the terms that Google Classroom software uses to describe where students can go to find the learning engagement materials I’m providing them and that the “due date” is just my estimate of how long it will take the average student to finish something I provide if it they choose to work on it Mon. - Fri.
I acknowledge that Gateway Families are all in different situations and that each should feel free to use the learning engagement materials I’m providing to whatever extent they can and if their situation prohibits them from doing so, I understand. The learning engagement materials I provide will not be graded or assessed, but will provide opportunities for feedback to students.
