Student Support Services provide resources to help students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. From counseling and special education to health, wellness, and family support, these services ensure every student has what they need to thrive.
The Department of Student Support Services is committed to offering integrated supports that promote student well-being, learning, and growth. Through prevention and intervention programs, we address the academic, behavioral, social, emotional, health, and safety needs of all students.
Our department focuses on:

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): District-wide initiatives like RULER and Second Step to build emotional intelligence, resilience, and interpersonal skills.

Mental Health Services: Expanded access through community partnerships, on-site therapists, and targeted interventions to reduce crises and promote wellness.

Substance Use Prevention and Intervention: Programs and resources to prevent use and support students facing substance challenges.

Suicide Prevention: Proactive efforts, including UW Forefront, to help staff and students recognize and respond to mental health crises.

504 Plans & Disability Services: Coordinated Section 504 processes to ensure equitable academic support and accommodations.

Collaboration & Community Engagement: Strong partnerships with families, staff, and community to create an inclusive support system promoting student success and well-being.

Social Emotional Learning helps students build self-awareness, social skills, and responsible decision-making. It builds empathy, resilience, and emotional intelligence, empowering students to manage emotions, set goals, and create positive connections within their school community.
