April 1, 2026

Dear Everett Public Schools Community,

Happy April! Spring is officially here, bringing longer days, blooming flowers, and a well-deserved spring break from April 6 to April 10. I hope this time provides an opportunity to rest and enjoy meaningful times with family and friends. Whether you are traveling, spending time outdoors, or simply taking a break from your daily routines, I wish you a safe and enjoyable week.

As we move into the spring season, it is also enrollment time for the 2026-27 school year. If you have a child who will be starting kindergarten, this is the time to complete registration. Children must be 5 years old by midnight on August 31 to enroll. Kindergarten marks an important milestone, and early registration helps our schools prepare to welcome our newest learners.

In addition, Choice Programs are open for enrollment and offer unique learning opportunities designed to support a range of student interests and needs:

  • International Baccalaureate Diploma Program: Cascade High School is in candidacy for this rigorous, internationally focused program. Current 8th and 9th grade students can register for the pre-IB program.
  • Dual Language: A bilingual Spanish-English choice program located at both Emerson Elementary and Silver Lake Elementary. Students from anywhere in the district can apply.
  • Lighthouse Cooperative: A parent partnership program hosted at Jefferson Elementary that fosters creativity and collaboration.
  • Port Gardner K-12: A flexible learning environment that supports homeschool families.

Please visit the Choice Programs webpage for additional information and important deadlines.

Thank you and I hope you enjoy the spring season. I look forward to welcoming everyone back after the break, ready to finish the school year strong.

Be safe and be well,
Dr. Ian B. Saltzman
