April 1, 2026
Dear Everett Public Schools Community,
Happy April! Spring is officially here, bringing longer days, blooming flowers, and a well-deserved spring break from April 6 to April 10. I hope this time provides an opportunity to rest and enjoy meaningful times with family and friends. Whether you are traveling, spending time outdoors, or simply taking a break from your daily routines, I wish you a safe and enjoyable week.
As we move into the spring season, it is also enrollment time for the 2026-27 school year. If you have a child who will be starting kindergarten, this is the time to complete registration. Children must be 5 years old by midnight on August 31 to enroll. Kindergarten marks an important milestone, and early registration helps our schools prepare to welcome our newest learners.
In addition, Choice Programs are open for enrollment and offer unique learning opportunities designed to support a range of student interests and needs:
- International Baccalaureate Diploma Program: Cascade High School is in candidacy for this rigorous, internationally focused program. Current 8th and 9th grade students can register for the pre-IB program.
- Dual Language: A bilingual Spanish-English choice program located at both Emerson Elementary and Silver Lake Elementary. Students from anywhere in the district can apply.
- Lighthouse Cooperative: A parent partnership program hosted at Jefferson Elementary that fosters creativity and collaboration.
- Port Gardner K-12: A flexible learning environment that supports homeschool families.
Please visit the Choice Programs webpage for additional information and important deadlines.
Thank you and I hope you enjoy the spring season. I look forward to welcoming everyone back after the break, ready to finish the school year strong.

March 2, 2026
Dear Everett Public Schools Community,
March has arrived, bringing with it the momentum and focus of the second half of the school year. This is an important and exciting time as students deepen their learning, begin planning for next year, and engage in meaningful opportunities that support their growth.
If you have a child who will begin kindergarten this fall, enrollment opens on March 2. Enrolling early helps families prepare and supports a smooth transition for our youngest learners. At the same time, middle and high school students are selecting courses for the coming year. This is a valuable opportunity for students to explore their interests, challenge themselves academically, and set thoughtful goals for the future.
Registration is also open for the Everett Career Link Summer Program. This hands-on experience provides high school students with the opportunity to gain real-world experience, build practical skills, and explore potential career pathways. I encourage students who are interested to take part in this rewarding program.
Beyond these milestones, I encourage all students to participate in the many academic, artistic, athletic, and extracurricular opportunities available throughout our schools. Involvement in school activities helps students build confidence, develop leadership skills, form meaningful connections, and strengthen their sense of belonging within our community.
Thank you to our students, families, and our dedicated staff and educators for your continued commitment and hard work. Let us carry this energy forward and make the remainder of the school year productive, engaging, and successful for all.
Be safe and be well,
Dr. Ian B. Saltzman

February 11, 2026
Dear Everett Public Schools community,
Thank you to everyone in our community who took the time to participate in the February 10, 2026, election. Voting is one of the most important ways to shape the future of our schools, and I am deeply grateful to the voters who made their voices heard.
With both the School Construction Bond and the Education Levy currently passing, our community has affirmed its commitment to students, families, and schools across Everett Public Schools. This outcome reflects months of listening, learning, and thoughtful conversation about our district’s needs, and it demonstrates the care this community has for providing strong learning environments and stable programs for students.
Over the past year, I have had the privilege of attending Let’s Connect events, school meetings, staff gatherings, and community conversations throughout the district. I am thankful to everyone who asked questions, shared perspectives, and took time to understand how schools are funded and how these measures fit into the long-term work of Everett Public Schools. These conversations were meaningful, and they provided a clear and transparent process.
I also want to express my sincere appreciation to the community members, students, and staff who served on the Capital Bond Planning Committee. Their work reviewing facilities, studying data, visiting schools, and weighing priorities was essential. Their recommendation to the school board last fall reflected careful consideration and a strong focus on our students’ needs.
The bond allows the district to move forward with plans to address overcrowding, replace aging school buildings, make safety improvements, and maintain facilities across the district. The levy renewal continues local funding that supports school staff, student programs, and day-to-day operations not fully funded by the state. Together, these measures provide a stable foundation for the work ahead.
With this trust comes responsibility. We are committed to careful stewardship, clear communication, and transparency as projects move forward. We will continue to share updates and welcome community involvement as this work progresses.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership with Everett Public Schools.

Dear Everett Public Schools community,
We are halfway through the school year now with the first semester ending on January 23. I look forward to the second semester and seeing the growth of our students.
On February 10, voters within Everett Public Schools will return ballots that include two school funding measures: a School Construction Bond and a renewal Education Levy. I encourage everyone to take time to review the information available and participate in the election.
Over the past several months, I have attended many community meetings, school visits, and Let’s Connect events focused on these measures. Thank you to everyone who took time to attend, ask questions, and share perspectives. I appreciate the thoughtful and honest conversations we have had, and I am grateful for the chance to listen and learn from families, staff, students, and community members across our district.
Public engagement has been central to this process. Since last spring, district staff have shared information through school meetings, community presentations, mailers, videos, and our website. Our goal is to give voters clear, factual information about what the bond and levy include, how school funding works, and how these measures affect students and staff each day.
I also want to extend a sincere thank you to the members of the bond planning committee. This group included parents, students, educators, and community members who volunteered many hours to study facility conditions, review enrollment trends, and consider long term needs across the district. Their work helped shape the proposal that was ultimately brought forward to the School Board. I appreciate their commitment to a careful, transparent process.
I encourage everyone to review the available materials and return your ballot by February 10. You can learn more about the measures by clicking here.
Thank you for staying informed, for engaging with care and respect, and for continuing to support the students and schools of Everett Public Schools

Dear Everett Public Schools community,
Happy New Year and welcome to 2026. As we begin the year together, Everett Public Schools remains focused on planning for the future while continuing to support students and families today.
I want to remind our community about two measures the district is asking voters to consider on the February 10 ballot. These measures are the School Construction Bond (Proposition 1) and the Education Levy (Proposition 2). Both are designed to address needs across our district and to ensure our schools are adequately serving students now and in the years ahead.
The School Construction Bond focuses on facilities and learning environments. If approved by voters, the bond will address overcrowding by building a new elementary school. It will replace Lowell Elementary School, which was originally built in 1951, allowing students and staff to learn and teach in a building designed for today’s educational needs. The bond will also update safety and security systems across the district and improve high school facilities to expand Career and Technical Education programs.
The Education Levy would continue funding for staffing, services, and programs that are not fully funded by the state. It helps fill the gap between what the state provides and the actual cost of running our schools, making up 15% of the district’s operating budget. This is not a new tax. The measure would renew the existing levy that is set to expire at the end of 2026.
Community members are invited to learn more and ask questions at our upcoming Let’s Connect events. These sessions will be held on January 20 at Cascade High School Cafeteria, January 21 at Everett High School Cafeteria, and January 28 at Heatherwood Middle School Cafeteria. Each event runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Ballots will be mailed on Jan. 22. Please remember to vote by Feb. 10.
As we move through winter, changing weather conditions may also be approaching. Everett Public Schools is prepared to respond if winter weather occurs. When weather impacts the school day, families deserve clear and timely communication. Please visit our weather impact chart to stay informed about how weather conditions may affect school schedules.
Thank you for your continued engagement and partnership as we begin 2026 together.

Dear Everett Public Schools community,
As we enter the last month of 2025, I want to express my sincere gratitude for our students, staff, and families. Your dedication and partnership continue to strengthen Everett Public Schools. This year has been filled with learning, growth, and accomplishments. I am thankful for the care and commitment each of you brings to our community.
I want to recognize our distinguished school board for earning the 2025 Washington State School Directors Association Board of Distinction honor. This award reflects the board’s commitment to working together to support ongoing professional learning, closing opportunity gaps, and alignment with Washington School Board Standards. Throughout 2025, the board prioritized multilingual learners, expanded dual language programs, and adopted a new English Language Development curriculum. Their efforts, guided by the district’s strategic plan, support equitable opportunities for every student and help create learning environments where all students feel inspired to achieve and thrive.
As we look to the new year, Everett Public Schools will be asking voters to consider two measures on the February 10, 2026, ballot. The School Construction Bond would address overcrowding by building a new elementary school. It would also replace Lowell Elementary School, update safety and security systems, and improve high school facilities to expand Career and Technical Education and other vocational programs.
The Education Levy, which is a renewal levy and not a new tax, will continue funding staff, services, and programs for students that are not covered by the state. The Education Levy helps fill the gap between what the state funds and actual operating costs, and it makes up 15% of the district budget.
You can learn more about these measures at our upcoming Let's Connect events. They will take place on January 20 at the Cascade High School cafeteria, January 21 at the Everett High School cafeteria, and January 28 at the Heatherwood Middle School cafeteria. All events run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. I hope to see you at one of these important events.
As we end this year, I hope you are feeling proud of all you have accomplished in 2025. I wish you a joyful holiday season and a fantastic start to 2026. Thank you for all you do to support our students and our schools.

2026 School Construction Bond & Education Levy
Everett Public Schools is asking voters to consider two important measures on the February 10, 2026 ballot.
The School Construction Bond would address overcrowding and modernize our facilities for future generations. Key projects include:

-
Cascade High School improvements - replacing the library, cafeteria, and performing arts building, and constructing a new CTE/STEM facility
-
Everett High School vocational building renovation
-
Districtwide safety and security upgrades
The renewal of the Education Levy would continue funding for staffing, services, and programs not covered by the state. The levy helps fill the gap between what the state provides and the actual cost of operating our schools.
-
It is a renewal of an expiring local levy, not a new tax
-
It makes up about 15% of the district’s budget

Instructional Reviews: Supporting student growth
Each fall, district and school leaders come together for Instructional Reviews, which provide an opportunity to look closely at how students are learning across our schools. During these visits, principals share their school’s progress and goals, and district teams visit classrooms to see teaching and learning in action. Together, they celebrate what is working well and discuss ways to continue improving student success.
I look forward to visiting more schools in the weeks ahead and continuing these important conversations about learning and growth.
Honoring our veterans
This month, Everett Public Schools honors the veterans in our community for their service and sacrifice. Their courage reminds us of the values of commitment, integrity, and unity. Schools across the district are holding activities to help students understand the significance of Veterans Day and express gratitude to those who have served.

Dear Everett Public Schools community,
Happy Fall! As October unfolds, I want to take a moment to reflect on the great start we’ve had to the school year. Walking through our schools, I see classrooms filled with curiosity, collaboration, and care. From our youngest learners just beginning their educational journey to our seniors preparing for graduation and beyond, there is a shared sense of purpose that reminds us why we do this important work.
October is also a time when many of our schools are welcoming families for conferences and events. These moments are more than just check-ins; they are opportunities to strengthen the partnership between home and school. Your involvement in your child’s learning journey makes a powerful difference, and we are grateful for the time you take to connect with teachers and staff.
I also want to highlight the many ways families can stay connected. Through ParentSquare, school newsletters, and district updates, we are committed to keeping communication clear and accessible. Staying informed helps ensure that families and schools can work hand-in-hand to support students academically and socially.
Looking ahead, October brings celebrations of learning, athletic competitions, music and arts performances, and community events that showcase the talents and passions of our students. I encourage you to attend when you can. These experiences are a wonderful reminder of the vibrant and diverse community we are fortunate to serve.
As we continue through the fall, I am grateful for the dedication of our staff, the engagement of our families, and the determination of our students.
Together, we are building a school community where every student is seen, supported, and given the tools to thrive.

Dear Everett Public Schools community,
As we start a new school year, I want to first say thank you for your continued dedication to student success. The excitement and energy across our schools is truly inspiring.
September is Attendance Awareness Month. Attendance is a key part of student achievement. Research shows students who attend school regularly are more likely to succeed academically, build strong relationships with their peers and teachers, and develop essential life skills.
We understand challenges can come up. Whether it is helping navigate transportation issues, providing health services, or working through personal challenges, our schools are here to support families. We are committed to ensuring every student achieves and thrives.
Our schools strive to build an inclusive and supportive environment where every learner feels appreciated and confident. Teachers, staff, and administrators are devoted to helping each student reach their full potential.
Everett Public Schools is sharing our story in a brand new way this year. We are celebrating the learning, creativity, and growth happening across our 28 schools through Together We: Inspire. Achieve Thrive. We will spotlight the dedication, diversity, and excellence that makes our district unique.
This school year is an opportunity for us to strengthen our partnerships with families, staff, and the wider community. By working together, we can ensure that every student not only attends school regularly, but also feels engaged, supported, and motivated to learn. Your involvement makes a meaningful difference in each student’s educational journey.
I look forward to all we will accomplish in the months ahead.

Dear Everett Public Schools community,
I hope your summer has been filled with relaxation, memories, and learning along the way! As a reminder, the first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 27. Kindergarteners will begin instruction on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
There is nothing quite like the energy that comes with a new school year. Our teachers, staff, and administrators are excited to welcome students back to school.
We remain committed to supporting each student with what they need to succeed. Our schools are dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive environment where all learners feel valued and empowered.
Over the summer, Everett Public Schools launched a new student information system called Synergy. With this platform, families will use ParentVUE and students will use StudentVUE to access grades, attendance, schedules, and more. Please keep an eye on your email for important updates.
There are additional digital tools Everett Public Schools uses to keep families connected to their student’s education. All communication from schools, teachers, and the district is sent through ParentSquare. The Versatrans My Stop App allows families to track buses in real-time for free. With the My School Bucks app, money can be added to a student’s lunch account anytime, from anywhere.
We look forward to another year of inspiring, achieving, and thriving together!

Spring brings statewide testing, which I refer to as achievement season. These tests include the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) and Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS). Assessments help us understand how students are progressing and where support is needed. We encourage our students to show what they know and do their best.

Preparing for Synergy – our new student information system
We are preparing to launch Synergy, our new student information system, this summer. Staff training is already underway to ensure a smooth transition.
We use a student information system to securely manage important data such as grades, attendance, class schedules, and contact information. Synergy will replace our current system with a more streamlined and user-friendly experience for both staff and families.
Families and students will use ParentVUE and StudentVUE to access real-time academic information, including grades and attendance.

November 5, 2024

Dear Everett Public Schools community,
November is a busy month, beginning with parent-teacher conferences. These meetings offer an important time for families and teachers to discuss each student’s progress, strengthening our partnership with families to support student success.
We are continuing our Instructional Reviews across the district to focus on classroom learning and ways to support students and teachers. These reviews help us see student growth and identify areas for improvement, keeping us aligned with our strategic plan and goals for academic success. I encourage you to watch our Parent University video, which explains more about Instructional Reviews, by clicking on this link.
November also brings an opportunity to honor our veterans and military families. As we recognize Veterans Day, I encourage everyone in Everett Public Schools to reflect on the dedication and service of those who have served. Their contributions strengthen our communities and inspire us all.
This month, we also observe Native American Heritage Month, a time to honor and celebrate the traditions, language, and stories of Indigenous communities and ensure their rich histories and contributions continue to thrive with each passing generation.
As Thanksgiving Break approaches, I hope you find time to connect with family and friends, reflect on what matters most, and create cherished moments and traditions. Dear Everett Public Schools community,
As we settle into the rhythm of the school year, I want to take a moment to thank each of you for your commitment to ensuring our students are set up for success. The energy across our schools has been incredible, and it is inspiring to see how our community continues to come together for the benefit of our students.
An important part of student success is attendance. Research shows that students who attend school regularly are more likely to succeed academically, build strong relationships with their peers and teachers, and develop essential life skills. Every day counts, and your partnership in ensuring that students are present and engaged is vital.
We understand that challenges can arise, but our schools are here to support families in overcoming barriers to attendance. Whether it is helping to navigate transportation issues, providing health services, or working through personal challenges, we are committed to ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive.
To strengthen communication and keep families connected, we have launched ParentSquare, a tool designed to help parents stay informed about important school updates and events. I encourage all families to download the app and stay actively involved. Your participation is key to your child’s success, and we are committed to building strong home-school partnerships through clear and timely communication.
Together, we can ensure that every student is present, engaged, and supported.

While students and staff spend time outside our school buildings during the summer, many still participate in various learning programs offered by Everett Public Schools.
I am incredibly proud of the 825 students who took part in our Summer Academy. I also applaud the students who engaged in weekly learning activities through Everett Public Schools' Summer’s Greatest Hits online learning program.
I want to extend a huge congratulations to the 35 students who worked diligently to graduate on August 15! Our summer graduation ceremony was a special event, where families, staff, and the School Board of Directors came together to celebrate their accomplishments.
Additionally, more than 1,000 students participated in Everett Ready last week, a transitional program designed to prepare incoming kindergarten students for elementary school. After seeing the students in action, I can confidently say they are ready for a fantastic start!
Our dedicated staff has worked hard over the past month to ensure a smooth and successful beginning to the new school year. We are looking forward to a year filled with new adventures, experiences, and robust learning.
Our incredible team of teachers, administrators, and staff is ready to welcome your child to school on September 4, and we cannot wait for an amazing year of learning together.
Thank you for your continued partnership. I wish you a wonderful start to the school year!
Sincerely,
Dr. Ian B. Saltzman
