Appearance
- Leaves: fine-toothed and flat near the top of the stem.
- Flowers: whitish in a single erect spike up to 25cm tall
- Fruits: berries are a bright, glossy red with seeds up to 50 mm

- Devil's club prefers cool, shaded, wet spots.

Growth Habit
- Size and Shape : the stems are1 - 4m tall and 1.5 to 4 cm thick, punkey, and crocked,
- Unusually, unbranched
- Devil's club is a perennial plant.
- This plant does not change during different seasons except to lose leaves in winter.

- Humans have used devil's club for medicine, deodorant, and to treat rheumatism.
