Devil's Club - oplopanax horridum

Appearance

  • Leaves: fine-toothed and flat near the top of the stem.
  • Flowers: whitish in a single erect spike up to 25cm tall
  • Fruits: berries are a bright, glossy red with seeds up to 50 mm

  • Devil's club prefers cool, shaded, wet spots.

Growth Habit

  • Size and Shape : the stems are1 - 4m tall and 1.5 to 4 cm thick, punkey, and crocked,
  • Unusually, unbranched
  • Devil's club is a perennial plant.
  • This plant does not change during different seasons except to lose leaves in winter.
