Appearance
- Leaves: three or five oval leaflets. Pointed tips, and they are toothed around edges.
- Flowers: magenta, small, and their petals are hot pink.
- Fruit: raspberry-like clusters of orange, yellow, or purplish red.
- They can be up to 3-10 feet tall.

- Salmonberries grow in moist woods on the under story part.
- Also wet slopes.
- Wooded stream banks

- The salmonberry is a perennial plant.
- The salmon berry changes by blooming from April to June
- Their fruits ripen in late July.
- The salmon berry dies down in the winter, and it looks like a bunch of sticks

Natural History
- The fruits can be eaten by animals.
- Salmon berry leaves are browsed by deer and rabbits.
- The Makah dried and peeled branches for pipe stems.
- Quileute chewed the leaves and spit them on burns, and in the winter they used the bark instead.
