About Mr. Garner
From the Factory Floor to the Classroom
My teaching philosophy is simple: Clarity is kindness. I believe students do their best work when they know exactly what is expected of them and how to reach their goals. I don’t want there to be any "mystery" in how to succeed in my class. This focus on precision comes from my time at The Boeing Company. In the aerospace industry, practical skills and clear criteria are everything. I bring that same mindset to Eisenhower; my vision is for every student to graduate as a confident, independent learner who knows how to apply their knowledge to the real world. In Science, that means we focus on doing: modeling, graphing, and measuring core concepts. In Math, we keep things active. You’ll see us doing everything from direct lessons and adaptive tech to collaborative problem-solving on our classroom whiteboards.
Finally, I believe time management is a vital life skill. I provide plenty of time for in-class work so I can be there to help. Because of this, I only use homework as an opportunity to reinforce concepts that a student might still be grappling with. My goal is to give every student the foundation they need to thrive, both in this classroom and whatever path they choose next.
