Transportation
The Transportation Department ensures safe, reliable, and efficient bus services for all students. We are committed to providing timely transportation, maintaining well-serviced vehicles, and supporting student safety on every trip to and from school and school-related activities.
The district contracts with Durham School Services for school bus drivers and buses. Durham drivers are not district employees, and the buses (with the exception of some special education buses, and vans) are not district property. The Durham contract includes maintenance and repair of school buses, and careful driver safety and training.

Kindergarten through 12th-grade students who live more than a half-mile walking distance from school can ride a bus. We may make exceptions for students who live where conditions make walking to and from school hazardous.
Eligibility and exceptions are guided by the Washington State Department of Transportation’s School Walk and Bike Routes: A Guide for Planning and Improving Walk and Bike to School Options for Students

Snow Routes
During severe weather, buses may operate on designated snow routes to ensure student safety. These routes are planned to avoid hazardous areas and help maintain reliable transportation when conditions are challenging.
