Transportation

The Transportation Department ensures safe, reliable, and efficient bus services for all students. We are committed to providing timely transportation, maintaining well-serviced vehicles, and supporting student safety on every trip to and from school and school-related activities.

The district contracts with Durham School Services for school bus drivers and buses. Durham drivers are not district employees, and the buses (with the exception of some special education buses, and vans) are not district property. The Durham contract includes maintenance and repair of school buses, and careful driver safety and training.

Transportation Department Services:

  • Schedules and routes daily school bus transportation.

  • Provides buses for vocational education, athletic events, and extracurricular trips.

  • Coordinates with state and local officials on road construction, new housing developments, and conditions affecting student transportation.
