CTE Graduation Pathway Requirements
- All students must meet one math and one English Language Arts (ELA) pathway, as defined in their High School and Beyond plan.
- Completing a qualifying sequence of CTE courses meets those requirements.

How can CTE benefit my student?
The CTE programs and pathways help our students:

- Explore careers in middle and high school.
- Take classes in high schools, at skills centers, and at community and technical colleges that apply math, science, and other academic subjects in real-life, hands-on ways.
- Pursue rigorous Programs of Study and earn industry certifications, and two- and four-year college options.
- Earn tuition-free college credits as well as high school credits required for graduation.
- Become leaders by participating in skills competitions and community service.
- Earn credit for jobs they may already be working after school. Click here for information!
- Meet and work with real companies through summer internship, mentorship, and job exploration opportunities.

Are there CTE experiences outside the classroom?
Yes! Depending on the pathway your student is working in, there are student organizations corresponding to each that help students practice leadership, explore career possibilities, and engage in regional, local and national competitions, while discovering their passions for learning and careers. DECA, for example, supports our business/ entrepreneur program, and our DECA team competes at the national level. Learn more about them here.
CTE supports the Robotics teams at our schools, in collaboration with First. Our robotics teams also compete at the state and national level.
CTE also collaborates with outside organizations to provide in-school and afterschool opportunities, such as the current After-School STEM Academy, in our collaboration with WABS.
-
Is there community involvement?
Yes. By law, each pathway has a corresponding Program Advisory Committee that is made up of both teachers and industry members, who work collaboratively to ensure we are providing the most up-to-date skills and certifications to our students. We are always looking for more local industry members to join these groups to help support our programs!
