Courses
Courses:
- Intro to Patient Care (full year)
- This course is designed to introduce students to foundational patient care skills across health, wellness and healthcare fields.
- Students will learn patient-centered skills related to communication, building rapport, team collaboration, cultural responsiveness, workplace safety, and patient care skills.
- A clinical set classroom allows students to develop specialized hands-on skills and knowledge.
- Preparation for employment is embedded in the course and includes building a portfolio of skills, certificates, resume and cover letter for potential job openings.
- Various certifications are offered for students interested in earning them, including OSHA-10, food handlers card, first aid-CPR, home care aide and nursing assistant.
- Nutrition and Wellness (1 semester)
- This course is designed for students who are interested in the science of nutrition, careers in nutritional sciences, as well as in the selection and preparation of a variety of food.
- Attention will be given to nutrition for the whole population.
- Medical Terminology - (1 semester - earn college credit for this course)

- Register for 420CTE: SigSTEM Healthcare Academy
- Complete the Signature STEM Pre-Registration Survey
- When schedules are finalized, you will be placed in the two period block for periods 5 and 6
Reminders for Current Students:

For non-EHS students, what will your day look like?
- Begin the morning at your home high school
- During 2nd lunch, grab your lunch and head to the bus
- Travel to EHS for Healthcare Academy
- After school, take the bus back to either your home high school or your bus stop
- No transportation to EHS on late start, snow days, etc. Students & families will be notified.
- Planning to drive yourself? Complete this form!

Clinic Days
Mondays and Tuesdays are clinic days
Always wear your scrubs (over your clothes)
See your handbook for all professional expectations.

Badge
Always wear your badge in the clinic or all off-campus events such as clinic days, field trips and community service.
Otherwise, it stays in the clinic.
Professional Healthcare Certifications Requirements

Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC) Certification
- 17 hours theory
- 18 hours of skill development
- 12 hours clinic time
- Clinicals required; with Providence
- Will be done in 2nd Semester

Home Care Aide Certification
- 75 hours required
- Theory of caring for individuals in assisted living facilities and in-home care
- 18 Skills to practice and master
- Washington state certification test at EHS
- Home Care Aide Certification Application Packet
