• Open House and Meet and Greet

    Hello Tambark Creek Families,

We are almost ready to open Tambark Creek Elementary School. This is an exciting time for everyone.   We are planning an open house for families in August.  Due to the large number of students, we will have two open houses.

    Below are the details.

Tambark Creek Open house Wednesday, August 21, 2019-Cancelled!

Tambark Creek Meet and Greet Event: Wednesday, August 28, 2019

Students and parents will be able to meet their teachers on Wednesday, August 28.  Please note, due to limited parking we are asking families with children in multiple grades to select one time to attend.

    • Students in grades kindergarten through second can attend from 4:30-5:30
    • Students in grades third through fifth can attend from 6:00 -7:00

I am looking forward to meeting all of you.  The 2019 20 school year is going to be fabulous with plenty of opportunities for parent and community involvement.

    Best Regards,

    Mrs. O’Connor-Weaver

    Mrs. Beane

    New cell phone policy

The use of cell phones in the classroom can distract students from instruction, yet can be important to have accessible in case of emergency. With this in mind, the district has adopted a new policy 3246 and procedure 3246P which prohibits cell phone use in the classroom while still providing access for students in case of emergency.

Elementary school students who choose to bring cell phones to school may only use them before or after the school day. During the school day, they must be powered off and stored (e.g., in the student’s backpack, locker, other district provided storage). There will be storage in the classroom so, in the event of an emergency, the cell phones will be accessible without leaving the classroom.

  • Tambark Creek Elementary Information

Architectural concept drawing of the new elementary school Tambark Creek Elementary is scheduled to open by fall 2019. Located at 4419 180th St. SE, just east of  Sunset Rd., the school will be the learning home for 600 students in grades K-5.

Ms. Celia O’Connor-Weaver, currently the principal at Hawthorne Elementary School, will be the principal of the new elementary school. Approximately 60 faculty and staff will join her to support student learning. The school will have 30 classrooms, an administrative office, library, gymnasium, a cafeteria, kitchen, covered play area, and playfields. The site also has a protected wetlands area, which will be used for outdoor learning.

Watch this site for more information as we select staff, organize a PTA, plan for student learning, order furniture and equipment, and get ready to move in this coming summer.

Watch our new school take shape through photos and drone footage.
