The district’s enrollment has been steadily growing and Everett had the largest school district growth from 2015-16 in the county with much of it in the southern part of the district. This project includes a new 78,000 square foot two-story elementary school north of 180th St. SE, east of Sunset Road and south of 174th St. SE within a rapidly developing residential area. The school would accommodate 550 students in grades K-5, with related site improvements including parking lots and playfields. Approximately 60 faculty and staff would serve the school, which would include 30 classrooms, an administrative office, library, gymnasium, a cafeteria, kitchen and covered play area. The site includes a protected wetlands area, which will be embraced for outdoor learning. Off-site work is foreseen to include street improvements. This site is also the anticipated future location of a new full size comprehensive high school.
