  • Peace and Justice

    Hello Viking Families,

First and foremost, I hope you and your family are healthy and well. As I’m sure many of you are, I am feeling like I miss us all being together at View Ridge more than ever. And, as I’m sure many of you are, I am feeling a range of emotions including sadness, confusion, and even anger due to the death of George Floyd and the unrest our nation is experiencing as a result of social injustice.

Even though we are not all together as we normally are, know that you are not alone. I want each student and family to know that you are cared for, you are loved, and you are respected. Racism is not tolerated at View Ridge, or in Everett Public Schools. At our school and in our community, we celebrate and embrace diversity, peace, and equity along with our five Viking Values of respect, responsibility, kindness, integrity, and perseverance. As a school, we have a duty to identify and break down any barriers that do not honor these values or allow each and every student to thrive, share their voice, and feel a sense of belonging, especially individuals with diverse backgrounds that have experienced marginalization in our society.

Parents and families--thank you for the effort you’re putting into supporting your student academically right now, but more importantly, your emotional support for your student’s well-being. With the pandemic, the closure of our school buildings for the rest of the school year, and now this, these are more challenging times than ever. We are here for you. We are here for your children. Please let your teacher know, or let our counselor, Mrs. Atregenio, know, or let me know how we can support your student and your family during this time. We realize some of our students may not know or understand what is going on. We also know some of our students may be aware and may have strong feelings and pressing questions. Please let us know what we can do to support your individual needs. We are here to listen, to remind students that they are safe and loved, and to provide any supports we can to help your student or your family through these times.  I am also including some resources you may choose to use with your family on talking with children about racism and appreciating diversity. We need to continue to work together and be innovative in our problem solving. Courage, advocacy, equity, and empathy need to prevail.

As Vikings, we persevere! We do great things together. We are one big family. We are View Ridge Strong! Take care and be safe.

    -Ms. Farias, Principal

    Student Engagement Materials

With the district-wide closure of Everett Public Schools, we have created a website that includes an initial set of materials intended to support students’ engagement in learning.  The materials do not replace the experience of being in school but can help students maintain the learning that has taken place this school year. Click the headline to visit the page.
