My job as the ELA Coach has two components: working with kids to advance their reading skills and working with teachers to advance their teaching skills.
I have been at Garfield Elementary since 1995. First grade was my home for seventeen years before becoming a coach. My degree is from the University of Washington, which explains why I love watching Husky football on Saturdays.
I had a very special teacher in high school. Her name was Ms. Westering. She taught me how to believe in myself and think positively about life. Wherever she is now, I hope she knows how much I appreciated her words of affirmation.
