Homework provides important practice and reinforcement of the concepts and skills learned in school. More importantly it gives the opportunity for students to become independent. It develops responsibility, which in turn develops self esteem.Homework Binder & Student Planners: Your child must bring their student planner and homework binder to school and home each day. In addition, enough time is given in class for students of all learning styles and levels to complete their daily assignments. Please sign the calendar inside the Student Planner daily.Third grade is a pivotal year in learning the skills needed to be independent life-long learners. We have high expectations for third graders as we are working towards independent learning: therefore, turning in neat and complete homework and projects on time is greatly emphasized.Any incomplete class work will be sent home in addition to their daily homework and is due back completed the next day. Please let us know by email or with a note if your child can’t complete the homework assigned in the time given due to family circumstances. Work extensions can be given. Please note however, daily work builds upon each lesson, so incomplete work may cause your child to fall behind. Unexcused missing, late or incomplete work will result in losing Cougar Pride points for homework, and is part of their report card grade.
Students will be assigned math homework daily. For each topic, they will receive a homework packet with a cover page. For each lesson, students are responsible for completing two pages: the Daily Common Core Review (DCCR) and either the practice or enrichment page. The reteaching page is included as an extra resource if you child is struggling with the concept. You can also access the curriculum online through the third grade website under the math section.
