Welcome

  • logo Hello 2023 -2024 H/C students and families, and welcome to another fantastic year!

I’m fortunate to return to MCE again this year– my 14th year teaching H/C. I’ve been involved in gifted programs for most of my life, both as a student and proud parent of three extraordinarily curious HC humans whose graduate work focused on serving others or making our planet a better place for all. They’re my greatest achievement, and just as I’ve tried to inspire them, I want to do the same for your children.

My many interests are reflected in our classroom environment - from a love of music, dance, and visual art to an athlete’s team perspective. I’m always up for a camping trip, traveling abroad, cooking, gardening, or taking-in a powerful film. I understand students bring many of their own talents and gifts they want to share, as well. For this reason, I include many types of activities to challenge students in kinesthetic ways and to create multi-disciplinary opportunities more specifically designed to meet their individual needs.

Education made an important and meaningful difference in my life. While promoting academic rigor, having graduated from UW with an Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences degree, and earning a Master in Teaching, my approach to learning offers many opportunities for self-pacing and self-expression. Therefore, I don’t assign a rigid daily homework routine. Periodically, however, students may need extra time for managing project assignments, especially as a new HC student. Otherwise, there's usually ample time to complete classwork at school within the timeframe given. “It always seems impossible until it is done.” – Nelson Mandela

    Warmly,
