• INTRODUCTION

Beginning with the 2013-14 school year, online courses and programs must be offered by an approved online provider in order for school districts to claim state funding to the extent otherwise allowed by state law.

RCW 28A.250 creates the requirement that multidistrict online providers be approved by Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. The approval process is defined in WAC 392-502.

Programs are required to complete a list of assurances before being reviewed by three independent, objective panelists, secured through the Digital Learning Department.

There are fifty-four items in nine different areas:

    • A:   Course Content & Instructional Design
    • B:   Classroom Management
    • C:   Student Assessment
    • D:   Course Evaluation & Management
    • E:   Student Support
    • F:   School-based Support
    • G:   Technology
    • H:   Staff Development
    • I:   Program Management

All Washington State Programs must score 85% to pass and be eligible to operate as an online program and provide online courses to students.

We invite you to celebrate with us–one of the state’s oldest and most successful online learning programs for over a decade as the Everett Public Schools HS Online Options program is proud to make this approval process transparent here in its web site.
