Welcome to Ms. Call's Class

  • MS. Call Hi, my name is Carmen Call. This is my 27th year teaching and my sixth year teaching second grade at Whittier Elementary. Prior to Whittier, I taught overseas in South Korea and Egypt, in New Mexico, at Silver Firs and Hawthorne Elementary in Everett. I earned my Master's Degree in Education with an emphasis on Math Communication from the University of Washington. My favorite thing about this job is the diversity of students I get to share a year of learning with. Second grade is such a great year for discovery and growth.

This year I have the pleasure to welcome Jordan Stalkfleet as my student teacher through December.  Jordan is completing her degree in Elementary Education from Western Washington University with an emphasis in Special Education. She lives in Everett, and enjoys crocheting, and spending time with her young nieces and nephews.

I live in Lake Stevens with my fiance, and I have a 20 year old daughter and a 17 year old son. When I'm not at school, I'm usually kayaking, biking, or visiting the many beautiful places in the North Sound area, or playing with my crazy fitness hobby, the hula hoop!

It's great to be a part of Whittier! I've met many wonderful families and am impressed by the fabulous children I get to work with this year. I look forward to teaching with my stellar colleagues, exploring the second grade curriculum, and soaking in the great view of the Cascade mountains from our classroom windows. It is so exciting for me to get to know a new classroom of "fishy friends" each year. I love making new friends, and seeing old friends too, as kiddos progress through the grades,  so don't hesitate to stop by the classroom to say hello!
