There, you'll discover a variety of resources covering suicide prevention, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance abuse, and more. We've also got information on safely storing prescription and over-the-counter medications, as well as firearms and ammunition. Whittier Gets a Facelift
Whittier Elementary gets a vibrant facelift thanks to volunteers! Over 80 dedicated volunteers from seven Safran sites across Washington and California transformed Whittier Elementary School’s playground into a colorful and inspiring environment last Friday, September 13. Safran employees and their families spent the day enhancing the school’s campus with a burst of creativity and community spirit.

Blue Ribbon School
Everett Public Schools’ Whittier Elementary has earned one of the nation’s highest honors in education - recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School. While the U.S. Department of Education discontinued the program in August 2025, Whittier had already been nominated, completed the application process, and received final confirmation of its award before the program was cut. The Blue Ribbon Schools Program honored fewer than 1% of public schools across the country each year for overall academic excellence or progress in closing achievement gaps. In Washington, the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) nominates up to seven schools annually based on assessment data and overall performance. Whittier’s nomination placed it among the topperforming schools in the state and makes it the first Everett Public Schools building to earn this distinction.

The Washington School Recognition Program names schools for closing gaps in the classroom, and our school is one of them! Based on the Washington School Improvement Framework, schools are recognized more equitably for closing gaps, growth, and achievement. Our school was recognized for ACHIEVEMENT for the whole school.
