• This section is specific to the families of incoming sixth graders beginning to prepare for the forthcoming 2026/2027 school year. On behalf of our school community and the team here at North, we are thrilled with the opportunity to partner with you across the coming three years of middle school. Below, you will find information and resources to help as you and your child begin to think about next year. This fall, we look to welcome 250 new STARs to our North campus and as we work towards our opening next August, we are honored with the forthcoming opportunities to meet and get to know your family.

Let's start with our Welcome to North evening in early February. This is our initial opportunity to say hello, welcome you to our North campus, and talk about class registration for next year. Here's the basics:

Who: Families of Soon-to-Be Sixth Graders

When: Thursday, February 5th from 6:00pm to 7:30pm

    Where: North Middle School

    Evening Includes:

    •   Opening + Welcome to North
    •   Day-in-the-Life of a North Student
    •   Overview of Schedule and Classes
    •   Class Registration Information
    •   Clubs and Athletics
    •   School Tour featuring current North STARs

This Welcome event kicks off our registration process for the coming school year as you and your rising sixth grader begin to consider classes, including CORE classes and electives. This process spans February and March, and includes visits to each of our feeder elementary schools (Garfield, Hawthorne, Jackson, and Whittier). We will also work to visit any students registering and/or transferring to North for the coming school year that attend elementary schools not listed above.

For more information related to our process and selection of classes, please see our Counseling Page, specific to rising sixth graders. Please note that this page has not yet been updated for the class of 2033. This will occur once our 2026/2027 Middle School Course Catalog is available.

What happens after registration? Good question as our work on schedules begins in the spring, continues across the summer, and concludes when we post student-specific schedules in late August. In the interim, we look forward to hosting you and/or your child at the following:

    • New-to-North Evenings (March - June: Specific Dates TBD) - These evenings are specific to parents/guardians of rising sixth graders and provide an overview of life in middle school. These evenings include opportunities to meet and interact with current North parents/guardians and members of our North Administrative team.
    • STAR for a Day: (March - June: Specific Dates TBD) - Incoming families can register for these during-the-day campus tours, hosted by our North team and students. These opportunities provide parents/guardians with a chance to see our school in action.
    • Elementary Visits to North (May/June: Specific Dates TBD)
    • Welcome Back BBQ, including student class schedules (August: Specific Date TBD)
